Hypoparathyroidism is a rare endocrinopathy whose origin is unknown, and which is characterized by a deficiency of parathyroid hormone causing low serum calcium and high serum phosphorus concentrations. The pathogenesis of the dental changes is unknown, but it is possible that parathormone may directly influence tooth development independent of its role in calcium and phosphorous homeostasis.
A 16-year- old female patient who has hypoparathyroidism referred our clinic. Clinical and radiographic examination revealed that carious lesions, enamel hypoplasia in multiple teeth and periodontal problems.
